After six years as Senior Counsel, Jill Alvarez has accepted a position as Principal at Faber. This new role reflects the high value that the firm’s biopharmaceutical clients place in her counsel around legal issues involved in structuring and managing relationships with service providers, hospital sites, investigators, and other participants in the conduct and oversight of clinical studies. This new role also means that Alvarez will be more directly involved in strategic planning for the firm, and in helping to shape its approach to training and mentoring less senior lawyers and contracts specialists.

This is not Alvarez’s first position in law firm leadership. She previously served as a partner in the life sciences practice at a Global 100 law firm. She left that position to take an in-house assistant general counsel position with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. before joining Faber. Alvarez says that her willingness to re-join a private practice was primarily because of Faber’s exceptional culture and supportive environment. “Faber is unique in that it is able to produce high quality legal work for a large client base while maintaining a working environment where everyone is valued, where sharing experiences and perspectives among colleagues is a regular part of the development of advice to our clients, and where employees have fun and want to stay to build their career.”  

In her new position, Alvarez wants to focus on working with the newer lawyers, including those who recently passed the bar and those new to the firm. “I will continue to help lead the firm’s transactional practice at the intersection of privacy law and clinical regulatory law, but I am also hoping to be more involved in some newer practice areas into which the firm is growing.”
